"For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat; for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall." - Isaiah 25:4
The Serve Ministry is called to identify and provide support for people and organizations of varying needs in different situations and settings.
Our Serve Team believes that God has called us to make a difference in our community and global missions. Our goal is to support programs inside and outside our church to strive to reach those that need our help.
"Outside These Walls" Team
Led by Brian Miller, this committee's purpose is to harness the energies and talents of our church and community to assist those in need of home repair, yard work and other tasks and who are unable to handle these activities for themselves. In doing so, the committee is establishing a community referral bank of professionals who can provide needed assistance. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the community and enjoy fellowship with KGPC members, along with other volunteers that join our good works.

Mission Sponsorship of Eva
Eva is a ten-year-old girl from Malawi, Africa. We have sponsored Eva through World Vision for the last three years, and we will continue our sponsorship until she is eighteen. The children regularly send her letters and gifts, and she returns in kind with letters about her life in Malawi. Children also have the opportunity to give a birthday gift to Eva and they are honored with their name on the birthday board.
Food Bank - provides staple foods for families/persons in need who are referred by VB Dept. of Human Services. Volunteers are needed to help pack groceries for these families during our designated weeks.
Beach Bags - 50 bags of food are packed monthly by various KG church groups for children at 2 local elementary schools in need of food at home on weekends. This program is in cooperation with VB City Public Schools.
Meals on Wheels - Teams of two volunteers are needed one day per month to pick up 10-12 sets of meals (tray of hot lunch food and a bag supper) at a local nursing center. These are then delivered to shut-ins, handicapped, and those recovering from surgery or illness who are alone and are unable to prepare food for themselves. KGPC is responsible for deliveries to one area of the city one week each month.
Winter Shelter - Opportunities abound for volunteers to prepare hot breakfast and dinner foods, serve, pack bag lunches, play games and interact with homeless men and women who are sheltered in the church for one week each year. Also appreciated are those who can offer basic health care, teach Bible studies, entertain, etc. Judeo Christian Outreach Center personnel will coordinate the Winter Shelter program for this coming fall and winter months.
Lunch Buddies - Volunteers are teamed one on one with children at Malibu Elementary School to mentor and be a friend as they share lunch time together.
Diaper Ministry - Provides diapers and cleaning supplies to families in need. Volunteers are needed to deliver diapers to families. Donations of diapers, wipes, and cleaning supplies are welcome. The Diaper Ministry is funded by the Kroger Community Rewards program (see below)
