Garden of Eden
The garden at King’s Grant Presbyterian Church
(KGPC) is more commonly referred to as the
Garden of Eden. Members of the garden form a
committee and are known as Sharecroppers. This
committee serves as a team in the church’s
Congregational Care Ministry. The Sharecroppers
are responsible for maintaining the garden and
growing the vegetables and other plants. Any
member of the congregation may be a sharecropper.
The primary purpose of the Garden of Eden is to
provide vegetables, flowers, and herbs to those in
the congregation who, for one reason or another,
may be unable to provide for themselves. The
produce that remains will be given to one or more of
the charitable organizations which are recognized by
church or may be made available to other members
of the congregation.
A secondary purpose of the Garden of Eden is to
give the the young people and others (in the church)
the opportunity to learn how God provides for us and
to see how plants are grown and harvested.
