musically and spiritually

with our church family.

Children’s Music

Music MakersGrades K-5. This group meets on Sunday mornings from 11:15am-12:00pm after morning worship.

John Fritz is our director of children’s music and also music teacher at Kingston Elementary School. He has worked with children for many years and provides a fun atmosphere for learning. A former Air Force band member, John excels at many instruments including Oboe, English Horn, Bass Guitar, Percussion and a collection of many other as-needed instruments. He passes along his knowledge and love of God, music, and community to the kids in an age appropriate and meaningful way.

  • Children sing songs related to scripture while also learning to play hand chimes, Orff instruments, and hand percussion.
  • They serve in worship services regularly throughout the year and often collaborate with the adult choir.
  • In recent years, Music Makers has presented a Christmas mini musical on the 2nd Sunday of Advent and joyfully participated in procession and song each Palm Sunday.

Youth Music Opportunities

We have talented teens and tweens who love to share their gifts of music with others and they are a vital part of the music ministry. Our middle and high school musicians frequently lead in worship in the following ways:

  • Students have become members of the weekly praise team and participated with our sanctuary choir during our Christmas Cantata and Easter Services.

  • Those who are in band, chorus, orchestra and piano outside of church are encouraged to share music in worship with solos, duets, or small groups throughout the year.
  • Our Sunday night dinner church is open to youth singers and band members.
  • Youth are invited to play in our handbell ensembles and occasional special events.
  • The youth group leads music twice a year on Youth Sunday and Youth Retreat Sunday.
  • Rehearsal schedules depend on the project at hand.

If you want to be involved, but aren’t sure where to start, please contact Dr. Tonya Holland, Director of Music.

Music Opportunities

Adults and Teens

  • Praise Team Wednesdays 5:45-7:15PM: This group is open to those with contemporary vocal and instrumental experience. We rehearse each week September through early June, and the music is a mix of modern Christian music from “old school” to music written this year. We play in many styles including, but not limited to, Contemporary Christian, African American Spirituals, Country, World Music, and Traditional Hymns with a twist. Praise Team plays most Sunday mornings 10AM with typically one week off per month, and also alternates leaders for dinner church each Sunday at 5:00pm
  • Sanctuary Choir Wednesdays 7:30-9:00PM: The choir is open to anyone interested in singing in a large group. Experience is appreciated but not necessary.  The Choir sings during Sunday morning services at 10AM September through early June and a few times in the summer. We do outreach concerts periodically at local nursing and rehab facilities, and present major programs for Easter and Christmas worship which include orchestra and require additional rehearsals.
  • Men’s Chorus: For many years there has been a Men’s Chorus that rehearses only a few times in the summer and sings for one worship service on or near Father’s Day.
  • Handbell Choirs: This opportunity is open to those who desire to play bells in a group setting. We currently have three choirs: Joyful Bells ~ Mondays at 11:00AM, Grace Notes ~ Tuesdays at 6:30PM, and Chancel Bells ~ Thursdays at 7:30PM. There are different levels of music reading and styles. Joyful bells began 2 years ago as a beginning reading group, Grace Notes is a new group this year morphing into contemporary music, and Chancel Bells takes on challenging music and a mostly traditional style.

All of our groups are exciting and educational while focusing on making music in praise and worship of Almighty God. Music is prayerfully and carefully chosen to enhance scripture, touch souls, and bring people closer to Jesus Christ.

Additional singing opportunities for men and women occur periodically throughout the church year.

If you want to be involved, but aren’t sure where to start, please contact Dr. Tonya Holland, Director of Music.

Psalm 150

Praise the Lord!

Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens!

Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his excellent greatness!

Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!

Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe!

Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!

Let everything that has breath
praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord!
