Hosea: A Living Parable of Continued Unfaithfulness and Persistent Love

Hosea 1:2-3; 2:11-23; 3:1-3; 14:1-4 Israel’s desperate situation is encapsulated in the marriage of Hosea and Gomer. Hosea is told to marry a prostitute so that he may experience her unfaithfulness. This becomes a parable of Israel’s faithless relationship with God. Yet God continues to pursue Israel again and again even though she continues to turn away. We would never put up with that kind of behavior from our significant other, yet God continues to pursue us with a relentless love. It’s the world’s greatest and saddest love story that continues to this day.
