I Believe in God…Father…Creator

Genesis 1:1-5; Psalm 19:1-4; John 20:16-17

Does God exist? How do we know? Who is God? What do we believe about God? The Creed describes God in two ways: Creator and Father. Scripture testifies that God is the Creator of heaven and earth. But doesn’t science say otherwise? Who are we to believe? How does nature testify to God? Jesus referred to God as Father throughout his ministry. What does Father mean for us and how does it shape our beliefs about God?

What Do You Say?: Sit down with a paper and pen or laptop. After a few moments of silence and deep breathing, start writing down what you believe about God. Is God the Creator of the universe? How do you reconcile your belief with science? How does nature reveal God to you? Do you relate to God as a Father? What are the implications of that, positive or negative? What other images or metaphors are helpful in your understanding of God?
