KGPC is excited to announce our next Associate Pastor:
Kailey Stephens!!!
Congratulations KGPC on Hiring an Associate Pastor!
Last Sunday the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee shared a presentation about their candidate, Kailey Stephens. It was recorded through our YouTube channel so if you missed it, you can go back and watch it. They have done an outstanding job for the last year putting in countless hours of work and prayer to bring you the person God has called to this position. With a vote of 79 in favor, 0 against, and 3 abstaining, KGPC has hired their next Associate Pastor! Kailey is hired effective August 1 with a starting date in the office of August 25. In that time, she and her husband, Austin, and their 5 year old son, James, will be transitioning to their new life here in Virginia Beach. Kailey will also be meeting with the Presbytery’s Committee on Ministry and starting to plan for the beginning of the church year which begins on Welcome Sunday, September 7.
Her main areas of focus will be our children and youth programming, intergenerational and family ministry, hospitality, and community outreach. She brings with her many years of children and youth experience, as well as four years as a full-time Director of Children and Youth Ministries. She will work collaboratively with staff and Grow and Connect Ministry Teams to build relationships and create programming to reach our visiting guests, our community, and build a strong family ministry including vibrant children and youth faith formation. Here is the brochure that was handed out on Sunday. You can also pick one up in the church office.
I found it heart warming that although 13 of our youth are at Montreat, they all gathered around the Live Stream on the one day they had to sleep in. That’s the picture you see at the beginning of this article. Every one of them watched with interest. They shared how each person on the committee and several in the congregation have made a positive impact in their lives. The kids are excited to be part of this new thing we will create together. Those who were members even made sure to text their vote in in real time so they could participate in the process. Kailey heard about this and wrote, “When a church invests in its youth, those youth become invested in their church.”
Friends, next month we start a new chapter at KGPC. I have no doubt you will welcome Kailey and her family with open arms and open hearts. Thanks again to the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee: Brian Miller (chair), Gretchen Allmond, Shannon Bronaugh, Christian Carrasco, Lizzie Chidester, Laurie Duquette, Alan Linberger, and Bill Long. God is good…all the time. God is faithful…all the time. God will be with us and knows the plans intended for us. So let’s roll up our sleeves and share in the joy of ministry together!
Abide Nearer, Grow Stronger, Shine Brighter, Love Deeper, Transform Your World,
Pastor Chris
