Paul’s Second Journey: Called to Suffer and Love
Acts 15:37-40; Acts 16:6-15; Acts 17:22-31
Paul’s second missionary journey begins in conflict and he and his good friend, the encourager, part ways disagreeing about who should go on the mission. As Paul traveled, he relied on God’s guidance to know where to go. He has a significant encounter with Lydia and a jailer who become followers of Jesus. He also then travels to Athens to share Jesus with them as he connects what they already know and believe with Jesus. Finally he spends a significant amount of time in Corinth where people were struggling to live together in harmony and Paul lifts up the role of love.
Reflection Questions: How have you discerned God’s will about what you should do in your life? How did Paul share Jesus with the Athenians and how can you share Jesus with others? What advice do you find helpful when people are struggling to live together in harmony?
